The founder, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Puthucode Kendra, Mr. P.A. Ramakrishnan, has adopted his own native village, and started the Bhavan's school, up to primary level in October 2000 under the affiliation of the CBSE.
The group of institutions with 375 constituent institutions, 119 centers in India and seven overseas centers has been serving the nation ever since its inception in 1938 by Kulapati Dr. K. M. Munshi.
The school is serving about 30 villages within a radius of 10kms. They are predominantly agricultural villages and the population consists of mainly lower income groups.
The institution was started with twofold functions, first, rural masses, denied of high educational standards, must have access to it without migrating from one place to another.
