IES Public School is a Co-educational Senior Secondary School located at the foot of Vilangan Hills and spread over an area of 40 acres. The campus is accessible by all modes of transport from any part of the country. The campus is near Amala Nagar on Thrissur - Guruvayoor route in the historically famous place, Chittilapilly, where Chandrotsavam was performed during the medieval years. History
The parent society of IES, MES Qatar, established in 1974 is running the MES Indian School at Doha, Qatar. The school is recognized by the ministry of Education, state of Qatar and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) New Delhi. Inspired by the phenomenal success of their school project in Qatar, the IES established IES Public School in 1994. IES Public School is now first among the schools in the State, at par with the best schools in South India.
Academics
IES Public School runs classes from I to XII. Medium of instruction is English. The school teaches three other languages such as Hindi, Malayalam, and Arabic. Other than teaching the routine syllabus the institution provide extensive coaching on Islamic Studies/Moral Science, Physical Education, Music and Drawing. As per the change in the CBSE evaluation system for classes I to VIII, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation system have been introduced.
Regular evaluation is done to assess the performance of the pupils, which includes projects assignments, seminars, collections and tests. The school conducts regular achievement test. School follows continuous and comprehensive evaluation in its spirits from Classes I to X. Three mid-term tests are conducted during the academic year for XI, XII other than class tests.
Facilities
IES has an excellent library with over 7000 books, 450 reference books, 40 journals and periodicals and news papers in both regional language & English. The extensive library also has a good collection of audio & video Cds & cassettes pertaining to different subjects. The school has both vegetarian and non-vegetarian mess, where the food is served under hygienic conditions. Special care is taken to make the food deliciously and nutritionally well-balanced.
Physical Education is a compulsory activity of the school and it has provided football court, cricket field, basketball court, shuttle badminton court, kho-kho court, tennis court and volley ball court. Also there are outstanding facilities for indoor games like chess, carom board and educational games.
The school has a separate conference hall and an audio-visual room. The audio-visual room is equipped with LCD-projector and sound system. The room is regularly used to show the students, subject as well as life skills related presentations.
The institution provides separate hostels for boys and girls. The magnificently built boys’ hostel is at the extreme northern side of the campus. It consists of eight dormitories, 20 rooms, study hall, prayer hall, mess hall, kitchen and reception. The girls’ hostel is situated at the Eastern side of the main school block, maintaining elegance in construction. It has a middle courtyard enclosed from all sides, consisting of 25 rooms.
Ventilations, ceiling fans, wardrobes, mattress, foam pillow, books and stationery shelves, writing desk, shoe rack, TV with cable connections and telephone are provided in the hostel. Those who are found weak in studies will be given special tuition in each subject in the hostel.
