History of St.Mary's Higher Secondary School, Irinjalakuda
The idea of starting a school was not there in the minds of the people who were behind the noble venture. After the construction of St. Mary's Church, Irinjalakuda, certain building materials were left unused. Their thought, on how to use the materials, paved the way to have a school building.
While beginning the school, their motto was to spread God's message to the children. Within no time, the plan got realisation as a primary school in June 1943 and later became a middle school. After passing the beginning stage, the developments of the institution found new heights as High School and to a Higher Secondary School in 2000.

Admission is open to all students who are eligible, according to the criteria followed by the Government. The admission procedures are absolutely transparent and are free from favoritism based on religion or caste. A new programme named IT @ SCHOOL is being introduced in the school for establishing Information Technology in our education system. Moreover, the project aims at integrating the information technology in the present day teaching and learning methods, so that science subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Biology and languages like English, Malayalam could be taught and learn more effectively.
The activities of the arts club make an inevitable presence of entertainment and its development. Students, who are blessed with divine talents to perform, conduct Band set and Scouts, add colour to the campus.

It strengthens the personality and talents hidden in a student. The council provides guidance for all the students of St. Mary's Higher Secondary School. Through quality improvement of the staff and development of the infrastructural facilities, the council is committed to ensure success of all students.
The main objectives of the Student Development Council are to gather, link and update information about career opportunities, to seek student participation in implementing new programmes and to inform on higher education possibilities. Moreover, the Student Council acts as a liaison between the students and the management.
